Large filter surface area for the size of the unit

I don’t have a unit rated for similar square footage coverage, but I do have one that is about the same size. This Jafända is not that much larger than a Levoit LV-H132. But with its double filters, the filter surface area is maybe 3 times as large. (see pictures)

Also the Levoit label says the rated power is 28W, and the Jafända says 32W. So it will cover a much larger room for about the same electricity usage. The Levoit listing says about 403 square foot coverage, to 1,190 square feet for the Jafända. So the filter surface area of about 3x the size matches up.

In my bedroom, I have a Germ Guardian AC4100 that is even smaller and this is going to replace that. I tried the Jafända in the bedroom first and decided it is going there instead of a larger room.
The sleep mode is very quiet, but still moves quite a bit of air. From my bed about 2 feet away I measured about 23 to 24 decibels, which compares to about 21 to 22 decibels background noise with it off. The regular fan speeds 1 to 5, were from about 33 decibels to 50 decibels.

The loose charcoal in the filter does seem to help with smells. Kitchen smells come through my bedroom due to the airflow through the house, and are particularly strong if anything is being fried.
With the Germ Guardian I’ve been rubbing baking soda into the black foam first layer to capture any cooking oil and smell. It works but can take hours for the air to clear up.

With the Jafanda, the smell is filtered out fairly well. It is there while cooking is going on because not all the air is going through the machine. But the smell is less than before and the speed that it is removed over time is very good. That’s why this unit is staying there and not going into another room.

The auto mode, where the speed is automatically adjusted according to particulate levels in the air seems to work, but I don’t have air with much particulates in it right now. So it will only go up one speed and then down as the dial showed higher and then lower ppm reading. It'll come in handy when it is the time of year with more pollen or dust.

The instruction book says the filter will last 3,000 hours. Since I am not going to run this all day long, that should last over a year. If I were starting from scratch, I would go with a higher coverage unit to begin with. My current unit should have been fine, but is fine only for average days and wasn't so great when it really matters.

Good size

Good size air purifier. Got this for my in-laws because they’re having some trouble with dust and dog hair. Hoping this helps them breathe better.

It’s a good size and I like the design. Doesn’t take up to much room at all.

Overall it seems easy to use. Just plug it in and it sense your air quality and adjusts the speed

I like it and hope they do too
